Once I put on the 16 inch wheels, I was bombarded with people telling me that I was wrong to take off the 20’s.
Better acceleration.
Better fuel economy.
According to many of my coworkers, these things should be sacrificed on the altar of lifted trucks.
When I tell them the lift blocks are coming out, they act like I’m an unfit parent and the state should take Fessick away from me
Apologies for the rant below. These are my rules for vehicle modifications.
- It’s mine. I’ll do what I damn well please.
- All vehicles consist of thousands of compromises. Some I can fix, others I have to live with.
- Try to make it look like it could have come from the factory that way. (See barn door cup holders. Most people who don’t know excursions, think that is stock).
- If you’re going to do it, do it right.
- If at all possible, use OEM parts. If that’s not possible, use parts that are better than OEM.
- I won’t reduce the capabilities of the truck. Lowering is right out. So is anything that eats into the cargo bed or reduces seating capacity.
- Don’t try to make your vehicle something it isn’t. The Excursion is too heavy to be a mudder.
- If you add speed, add matching brakes & suspension.
- Chrome won’t get you home. Nor will big speakers, TV screens or non-functional lighting.
- Speaking of lighting, off road lights are for off road. ONLY. Know the laws regarding lights on motor vehicles. Be polite Don’t blind other motorists.
- Rolling coal is a waste of money (literally pouring unburnt fuel out the exhaust.)
- I’m sure all of you have your own set of rules for your vehicle. I’d love to hear them, feel free to comment.
