ProClip phone mount & MagSafe charger

When I saw that the Ridgeline come standard with a wireless charging pad, I was super excited.

When I used the wireless charging pad, I was super disappointed.

ProClip to the rescue.

This looks like a good spot.

ProClip offers two mounting locations for the Ridgeline/Pilot/Passport. Other vehicles have different options.

Base! How high can you go?

This base clips in between the left vent and the right side of the instrument display.

The MagSafe holder screws into the base with four included screws.

Read the directions always! The MagSafe holder has to be disassembled in order to screw it onto the base. Reading the directions before I started saved me a lot of frustration.

The MagSafe itself clips into the holder and is locked in with a wee thumbscrew.

Time to route the cable

Some adhesive cable clips are used to tame the cable between the dash and the USB-C port at the bottom of the center stack.

Not the instrument display.
Not the infotainment display.
But a secret third display.

I have tested the holding power of MagSafe for a few trips by holding the cable & suspending my phone as I drive, I think unless I really hit a big pothole, it should be fine.

With a bachelors degree in history, I turn wrenches for a living. I’m most at peace when I hear the wind in the trees or the gurgle of a brook. I’m a believer in the Renaissance Man, as epitomized by DaVinci engineer, artist, soldier, statesman. As Heinlein said, “A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyse a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.”
