Adding brakes to the Utility Trailer – electrical (day 2)

Good day, and welcome to day 2.

First step – get the junction box hung so I can complete my day 1 tasks.

This has got to go.

The oscillating tool with a metal cutting blade is the closest thing I have to the right tool for this job.

Much better.
Junction box – Day 1 complete.

Now to start connecting some wires.

The trailer cable that I prepped on the bench last week goes on super easy today.

I put the bolts on just a few turns so I can maneuver the cable without worrying about the ring terminals coming off.
The silicon parts tray is an excellent way to avoid losing hardware in the grass.

Now to start connecting the other wiring

Wires protected in split loom and secured to the trailer frame.
These 10 wires need to find homes.
At this point my battery is charging and all the trailer lights work.

Time to physically install the brakes.

With a bachelors degree in history, I turn wrenches for a living. I’m most at peace when I hear the wind in the trees or the gurgle of a brook. I’m a believer in the Renaissance Man, as epitomized by DaVinci engineer, artist, soldier, statesman. As Heinlein said, “A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyse a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.”
