Where’s my soapbox?….
I’ve come to the decision recently that applying finish is the difference between a project and something I just slapped together.

I’ve come to the decision recently that applying finish is the difference between a project and something I just slapped together.
Continue reading “It’s called finish for a reason.”This is the first backpacking stove I ever bought (Spring 2001, probably). And my first liquid fuel Coleman appliance. I had a fuel leak below the valve, so it’s time for a rebuild.

We bought the house from a flipper who “redid” the 45 year old kitchen. And by redid, I mean he replaced the old solid wood cabinets with the cheapest builder grade particleboard cabinets he could source. (My neighbors are still rocking the original cabinets, and while dated, theirs are holding up better than mine.)
After three years of use by my kids, hinge screws are starting to pull out of the cabinet frames.

The rear hatch on the Excursion is…. complicated.
Three panels, electric and manual locks, washer, wiper and defroster.
When I bought Fessick, none of the above worked.
The key cylinder was a rusted lump of metal of various alloys. You could put a key in, but it wasn’t turning anything.
The lock actuator didn’t actuate.
The wiper didn’t wipe.
The washer didn’t wash.
The defroster didn’t defrost.

Yes it can.
Literally took longer to re-install the fuse panel cover than to adjust the pointer.
Legal jibber-jabber
Last oil change I installed this oil drain valve instead of the plug on the oil pan.

When I bought Fessick, none of the power locks worked (as far as I knew). Meh, who cares?
When we got back from our first camping trip however, I couldn’t get into the hatch. I unloaded everything that would fit through the back doors and disassembled the hatch to get it open and finish unloading.
Apparently, one of my children (looking at you, youngest son) had pressed the 7 & 9 buttons and locked the hatch.
The easiest job that requires two people.
One of my co-workers informed me that only one third of my center brake light was working.
Time for an upgrade.
Continue reading “Brake Lights”When I bought the truck, the left side washer nozzle didn’t work very well. It sprayed washer fluid, but when stopped, the fluid landed about 4 inches from the bottom of the glass. When moving, the fluid didn’t make it to the glass. Being that this wasn’t keeping the truck off the road, it was a low-priority repair.
After our final snow storm of the spring, the driver’s side wiper was only clearing the top and bottom third of the blade. I thought the blade had torn, so I bought new ones. Fancy, high-tech, bridgeless wipers.
This made things worse
