Irrigation Manifold

Four years in this house and the plan for the vegetable garden is finalized. (I think. The wife might not be settled yet.)

Five raised beds surrounding a garden shed / work space. But now we outgrew the irrigation system that I threw together when we were prepping to be out of town for two weeks and she didn’t want the garden to die.

I’m a gas utility worker by trade, so I’m used to working with valves and fittings, but water isn’t something I deal with on a regular basis.

Glamping Kitchen (Mk.2){part 2}

In which we add plumbing….

First off, this is as basic a plumbing system as I can imagine.

Second, the sink, which would normally be the most expensive bit, was free. I recovered it from a foreclosed house I was cleaning out. I found one here for $60, but you still need a drain basket.

So while this seems so extra (and it is pretty unnecessary) it’s not an expensive addition.

Worst sink drain design I’ve ever seen

When we bought the new house, I was happy to see that both upstairs bathrooms had new vanities. I didn’t realize then that the new fixtures were probably worse than the 50 year old units that they replaced.

The thing I hate most about this house (Photo taken after cleaning, I couldn’t post a dirty shot)

Gutter cleaning tool

This didn’t work out as well as I hoped. I’ll probably end up modifying the design to improve the performance. It may also be that the gutters were too clogged and that this tool will work fine if it’s used on 4-6 months worth of debris as opposed to several years.

Gutter cleaning tool – there is a union so I can add or remove the middle ten foot section as needed.

Rear Hatch

The rear hatch on the Excursion is…. complicated.

Three panels, electric and manual locks, washer, wiper and defroster.

When I bought Fessick, none of the above worked.

The key cylinder was a rusted lump of metal of various alloys. You could put a key in, but it wasn’t turning anything.

The lock actuator didn’t actuate.

The wiper didn’t wipe.

The washer didn’t wash.

The defroster didn’t defrost.
